The Hudson Branch

The Hudson Branch

The Hudson Branch is a solid band from Chicago, one of the most solid I’ve discovered in my never-ending Bandcamp searches. They released a really good album in 2009 called “Tightrope Walker,” and there’s one song called “Periodic Table Of Elegance” on their Bandcamp from something called “World Kid” that Bandcamp says will be released on April 24. If the rest of “World Kid” is a great as that song, that’s going to be a really, really incredible album.

The production in “Periodic Table Of Elegance” is really elaborate. There are tons of interesting things going on in that track. The arrangements are really great, and the lyrics have a consistent and effective chemical theme. This is going to be a great album.

“Tightrope Walker” was really good too. Every song is pretty different. My favorite tracks are probably “Clouds” and “Armed With A Box.” The former is an almost creepy slow jam with tons of dynamics, and the latter is a five-and-a-half minutes long, sort of jazzy story song that I could see myself listening to on a rainy car drive.

Go check out this band! That new song is amazing, and I’m hoping that I’ll be equally impressed with the rest of “World Kid” on April 24 when it comes out. It’s got ultra cool album artwork and a really sweet music video. Find this band playing music live somewhere! I’m sure it’ll be a really good show. If you’re nowhere near them, just listen to their music online! The Internet is amazing!
